  • 12 Ways To Be Impeccable at Customer Service

    by Charica Roche

I wrote a previous article about how to be a savvy customer. Now I’m gonna talk about the other side of the table, that of customer service. The phrase itself doesn’t actually end at the customer service desk or department alone. Sales people, managers, and those in other positions sometimes require a little bit of it in their work. The role of customer service...

10 Ways To Take Great Care of Yourself

    by Charica Roche

I have asked this question a few times this year. From where I grew up, I was taught to take care of other people first before myself. Although I’ve started doing the things I love, there’s always room for improvement with regards to the self-care section. The list below is a combination of my readings from various websites and my own experiences. 1.) Start prepping...

ABOUT MISPRONOUNCING NAMES Ever since I've migrated overseas, some people mispronounce my name. Though there are some who are careful and ask questions to see if they have done it correctly, a few are too lazy to even bother. However, there's one person working at a shop who mispronounce my name so many times. Initially, I would just laugh it off as some form of ignorance. But as weeks and months went by, it has gotten to a point that it's annoying and irritating, childish even, that I have called him out on it recently. Then when it happened again today, I decided to ignore him and sent a word to his colleague that what he's doing is similar to heckling and that if ever he does it again, then I have to call out the duty manager. And now he has gone silent. You see, mispronouncing names is rooted in the history of colonizers imposing their culture on the locals to the point that their names are considered inferior to their own, thus the mispronunciation started. The worst part of all this is that I had a crush on this person prior to all the heckling. And so now I will totally avoid him when I can. Not once have I ever felt bad about my name, because it is so precious to me. My name not only comes from my parents, but also from a Sinhalese word my former work colleague revealed one time. And just recently, it also has Indian meaning. I love my name so much, I will call anyone out for their ignorance and laziness. Remember: when you pronounce a person's name right, you respect the person and where they come from. You treat them as your equal. #name #whatsinaname #personalgrowth #myjourney #names #myname #mynameis
A BIG LESSON ABOUT LOVE AND RELATIONSHIPS When looking for a partner, make sure that he or she respects you very much and treats you as an equal, no matter what. Whether that person comes from the same or different culture. Any person who treats a significant other as someone lower than them without considering their thoughts, feelings and opinions on matters of concern is a horrible person and must be avoided. Although I failed to notice the red flags early on, my intuition was able to warn me by letting me feel that something was strange and off. Now years later and reflecting back, I then realize my intuition was right all along. Enough of the inequality that has been in relationships ever since the dawn of human race. All of us are wonderful in our own way. It takes someone brave enough to fully understand you and yet accept, love, honor, affirm, respect you for who you are that would make a lot of difference in this world. And this is why I'm reclaiming my life, reaffirming who I am and what I stand for to attract the best friendships, relationships and the most positive situations. #personalgrowth #myjourney #love #relationships #respect
Weeks ago, I decided to start a vision board of myself. Growing up, I can remember not having a strong sense of #selfesteem to the point I suffered from anxiety for years (school until early 30s). The only thing that made me feel who I am is whenever I sing. Now moving forward, everytime I wake up I get to truly and fully appreciate my own #beauty and I thank the Universe for who I am now. For the first time in my life, I can say to myself how #beautiful I really am. This #selfvisionboard is all about accepting, honoring, affirming, loving and respecting myself because I now realize that when I do that, I can then attract people who accept, honor, affirm, love and respect me. The words reflect 3 key things 1.) Those that people have mentioned for years about me 2.) Those that I truly believe are part of who I am 3.) Those that I'm currently striving and working on to achieve #personalgrowth #myjourney #journey #grateful #lucky #selfrespect #selfacceptance #honoringmyself #selflove #iam #iamenough #emotionalhealing 📷 Within photo: @michelperrinphotography

Had Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen 🍜 for lunch (yummy 😋) but noticed the two charsu pieces were full of fat not meat, which I usually get. Mentioned to the staff, came back with two pieces of meat (not shown). Then as I was about to leave, the chef came out with something in his hand, apologized, then handed some matcha green tea ice cream and voucher for next visit! #thankyou Ramen Station 🙏 for going way beyond to make me come back. #grateful

Each kid has his or her own #talents #abilities and #strengths. What was advised to you before as a kid may or may not apply to the kids now. Parents need to start recognizing those strengths and nurture them so they grow up with a strong sense of self-esteem. #personalgrowth
